slow on the uptake

Hey, Readers.

I added the little followers thingy over there on the right. That's pretty neat, huh? If you want to add your link to the followers thing, I'll update it. I like that a lot better than the blogroll. I'm not sure if you have to have blogger for that or not, because, uh, I'm a bit slow on the learnin' the blog techno-schmecno stuff.
***edited to add*** I think you have to click on the button over there and add yourself...I think, this is all new to me.
I have a couple of things I need to admit to you all.

1. I check all your blogs when you leave a comment, but I am a terrible commenter. I'm sorry, I just am. Mostly because I get nervous about what I'm saying. I KNOW! I have no problem here in my own little piece of blogosphere. What can I say? I'm like that in real life too. I'm much more comfortable at home than in somebody's house. It takes a while for the real April to come out.

2. Because I check all your blogs, I have been startled more than once. It's the music. I'll click on a very nice link, the blog comes up, I start reading and then WHAT THE HECK!!! Some music blasts out of my computer and scares the bajeezus out of me. It's not that I don't like the music, it's just that I'm totally not expecting any sound to come out of my computer unless I'm watching videos. The other day I went to a blog, and dadgum I can't remember what it was, but I loved her music selections so much that I carried my laptop to the kitchen and kept reloading the page so I could listen to the music over and over and over while I cleaned. I don't know if there is an option to shut off the music or not, but my heart can't take much more. Please inform me if I'm doing something wrong and don't take the music off your blogs, especially if your the one lady that I liked so much. I will find you again and listen to you music.

Okay, meeting adjourned.

how do you have 24 followers when you just put the darn thing up?

I am going to investigate the follower thing further....

Look at you, already 23 followers! And you know, they just rolled out the follower thingy a few weeks ago. It's not like it's been around for years or anything.

hmmm. I took my music off because when I'd go to look at updates of my own site, the music would catch me by surprise too.

You'll have to let us know if you found that music again...

People who have music on their blogs makes it very difficult to check out their blogs at work. Talk about scrambling to close the page.

Not that I ever do that or anything.

Me too. I even have one blog that I check all the time ... one of my very first friends ever ... and each time I start reading and JUMP when it starts. This especially happens if my husband has been using the computing device just before me since he turns the volume up sooo loud.
All this to say .. I hear ye!

You're so funny! I've had the same problem with the music thing. I've taken to just leaving the darn mute button on all the time to save my blood pressure!

I don't have music on my blog, basically because I haven't figured out how to add it. And then the big decision, what song(s) do I choose? That requires too much thought and planning for me. LOL

You can add me to your "followers" list. Besides, I already have your blog listed on my page. I try to check in here every day. I never what to expect, but I always know I'll usually get a giggle. Thanks!

April - I love your blog, and because of that I've tagged you to post 7 random things about yourself (see my blog)

I'm with ya on the music thing, hate it when that happens, especially when it's 5 a.m. and you have a cup of hot coffee in your hand lol
I have a music player up but it doesn't start automatically, people have to push play, figure that way it doesn't scare the bejeesus out of them!
Have a great day :o)

That is cooler than a blogroll. Reminds me of Twitter.
I think I need to change my pic. ;P

I have to admit that I don't like the music. I tend to read blogs in the early morning when it is and should be quiet. ;)

I'm a music lover but not on a blog. 113 blogs on my feed and not a one has music - coincidence? Nope. I like what someone above did - make it an option to press play.

I like that blogger follower thing. Like to see pics of others too.
My own music scares me sometimes when I go to my blog. What I really hate is when it plays then stops, they plays, then stops. Half tempted to be rid of the playlist, but then I like to listen to the songs too!
Playlist.com for those looking to add songs, plus its free!!

Okay, here's the deal with the followers thing. Each person has to go to their own blog and on their dashboard there is a thing that says "Reading List" and "Blogs I'm Following". They have to input the url to that and then they show up if you have the follower thingy on your page. I don't know if you can do it in anything other than Blogger. Now I've got to figure out how to get the follower thingy on my page.

Sorry, I have music on my blog but you can scroll down the right hand side till you see the player and click to stop it. I took it off but had more people wanting it back than didn't so put it back on. I keep my speakers turned off until I want to listen to something so I really don't know who has music and who doesn't

Soo... you like to get comments, but not leave them? I guess I can't speak for everyone, but generally, bloggers love comments, right? We don't read a comment and think, "whaaaa?" we just read a comment and go "Wahoo! Somebody left me a comment!". Ya gotta give a little! I love getting comments, and I can see people in my stats, but they rarely comment. Then I get all self-conscious and think that my blog must be lame, or at least not thought-provoking...

Anyway, I love your blog, it's hilarious! Now that I think about it... I don't know if I've commented here more than once or twice... :-P I'll try to practice what I preach...

The music scares me as well.

Oh Im right there with you! I dread clicking the peoples blog that I know have music. Especially when its something I dont enjoy. I quickly jump (after peeing my pants from being shocked) and run for the mute button.

I was determined to find a player for my blog that allowed you to select "do NOT auto play". Phew. :)

The worst thing was when I have music playing on my computer while I visit blogs and then the bloggers music and mine have a war! I try to keep my volume control on Mute and avoid the music.

If you ever figure out the song or artist you liked, you should check out Pandora. Read about it on my site: http://www.shesueexperience.com/othergroovystuff/radio-on-the-internet

You sure get an awful lot of comments, for never leaving any comments... Hmmm...

Dayum! I didn't realize you could put your playlist on your blog!! I have mine on MySpace. I'm going to go put it on Blogger right now!

Oh...BTW...you just click "Follow Me" (or whatever it says) and it will add your Blogger avatar and link (I think). Cool beans.

Hang on folks! You have to have a blogger account - that freezes out folks like me who write via Wordpress.

Dang it!

hehehe! I like the "followers" link. :-) It's like you have your own little group of disciples...

What I know about following...on your dashboard you can add blogs to follow with the URL of the blog. It does not have to be a Blogger blog it will follow others too. I follow a couple that aren't Blogger.

To get the Followers gadget to put on our page your blog must be a Blogger blog.

If you are visiting a Blogger blog and it has the Followers gadget there is a button on it that you can click to follow that blog. You need a Google ID to use it though.

Also you don't have to have the gadget on your page for someone to follow you. I was following April on my dashboard before she put the tool up. I just plugged in her URL.
