FOUND!!!!
Oh, thank you all so much for your sweet words and prayers for our Preacher. I went to bed last night wondering how I was going to cope without him. Just as I was nodding off the phone rang. It was my veterinarian's exchange.
A man found Preacher crying on his porch and called the number that is on his rabies tag. I was so glad that he didn't care it was almost midnight and I'm so thankful I have a great vet that keeps his emergency exchange informed of all his animal's identification numbers so they can be reunited with their owners when they get lost.
Clay and I jumped in the truck and drove to the man's house. He lives about one and half miles from us.
Preacher hates to ride in a vehicle. He shivers and gets really stiff. But man, was he happy when we pulled up. He ran to greet us and let Clay set him on the seat next to me in the truck.
When we got home he ran straight in the house and got a drink of water out of the toilette, then sprinted upstairs and jumped on a sleeping Seth's head, then he ran into Ellen's room and licked her face, then he went to sleep.
We're very happy he's home. He's very happy to be home.
My guess is we had some cyclist out here yesterday when I was gone and I think they may have stopped to pet Preacher, which to Preacher is an invitation to come on a bike ride. Unfortunately, they didn't ride back to our house and he was left stranded and lost.
So, maybe I need to post a sign that says,
DO NOT PET OR TALK TO OUR VERY FRIENDLY DOG OR HE WILL FOLLOW YOU HOME!!!
or
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE OUR DOG ON A BIKE RIDE UNLESS YOU BRING HIM BACK HOME.
or
NO NICE CYCLIST ALLOWED!!

I'm so glad for you!
Thank you Jesus! He cares about our pets too. I wish it would've truned out like this for Pioneer Woman. I know you are overjoyed. You might want to get him a pet tag to go with his rabies tag with his name and address, phone etc,..or a micro chip.
I know it's pretty common bloggie talk but,...
WHOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Karen Deborah,
Last night in the midst of big sobs I was trying to explain to my son that he needed to pray and let God handle bringing Preacher home. So we prayed.
This morning I was so happy to say, "See Ike, God hears our prayers and answers them!"
Now my son is sobbing because he doesn't want our pigs to go to the butcher on Sunday. ugh.
And, I sure wish Nell would be found too.
Fantastic news! Nothing worse than kids that miss their lost dog....I am thankful for a happy ending:)
Great news!
I am clapping my hands and thankful your preacher came home...what a wonderful ending to your story!!!
So happy for your family!
I am so relieved. I was worried!! I love how the list of things he did when he got home. Toilet, kids, bed. check. lol
Thank goodness he's home again.
Oh, and our sweet Annie who loves us, she would totally leave home if some stranger offered her a car ride. she loves car rides. like crack cocaine or something to her.
Yay! I'm so glad he was found and came home to his family!! That's great news.
You need to get him a dog tag next to his Rabies tag that has your address and phone number on them. Kind of like a "return to sender" tag. I know, sounds like a no brainer, but I'm glad he at least had a collar on with his Rabies identification number. He looks like a good ole boy!
whooppeee! Thank the Lord. Margie
Thank goodness for happy endings! Hugs to Preacher! PTL!
Wonderful news! Welcome home, Preacher!
Hallelujah! I'm so glad you got your Preacher back. You surely would have been a family of lost souls without him. Amen

P.S. I think it's wonderful that you all prayed for Preacher to come home. I'm certainly not mocking or knocking that. That's what we'd do. However, I hope your son does not now think he should pray for the pigs not to be sent to the butchers because, uh, that could be tricky. I think you should distract him with some new piglets as soon as possible!
Oh thank goodness. I felt so for your family. I was checking back every few hours to see if you had found Preacher...and I love his NAME. That's my uncle's nickname, too. I wish I'd thought of it when I had the second purse raiding, wallet opening, cash shredding, shoe mangling, rug digging golden retriever to name. Maybe that name would have been a calming influence.
Awwww...so glad he's home.
I am soooooo happy Preacher is back! YEAH!
I'm very glad your dog has return. We used to have a sweetie that would go off with friendly folks and it caused a lot of stress.
Am I the only one to catch the story thread "drank out of toilet/licked Ellen's face"? Eeeewwww!
I am so happy for everyone, including Preacher. I love a happy ending.
Great news! So happy for you and your family.
I'm so so glad I didn't have time to read yesterday because not much makes me sadder than lost dogs. I'm so happy things turned out great!
So glad he's home... Happy endings are the best.
ohhh.....I am so glad ya'll found him!!
I'm so happy for you all! Good boy Preacher! What a blessing for him to land on a good samaritan's porch!
Oh yea! I'm so happy for you! Now if only PW's Nell would return too... maybe I need to say a few more rosaries and light a few more candles for St. Christopher, the patron saint of travelers... oh wait, I'm not Catholic. We Protestants just don't DO stuff like that. Oh well, we can still pray :)
I'm so glad you have Preacher back. I know exactly how you feel: a few years ago I lost my son't kitten on (I couldn't make this up if I tried) CHRISTMAS EVE. She was gone for four days; another family had found her shivering on their doorstep and kept her the whole time, not wanting to disturb our vet over the Christmas season. (Guess it never occurred to them that an eight year old, three blocks over, was crying himself to sleep every night.)
So glad Preacher is home. Silly boy.
just leave those pigs alone! ya'll will gag and not be able to eat em. Get soem other thing to eat. Pigs are too smart they are a lot like dogs. or sell them and let some body else eat them. i know your plans all good for being a vegetarian or eat something less intelligent.
Oh, I am sooooo happy for you and your family. Preacher sounds like a pretty cool dog.
Yay! And a funny related story -- I used to have a Golden Retriever who loved riding in vehicles, even delivery vans, one time he disappeared, until we got a call from the UPS dispatch! We had been the last stop on the guys route and my dog jumped in the back... so we had to let any delivery people know to check their trucks/vans before leaving -- LOL!
Hurrah!!!!!
Next time you're at the hateful WalMart get another tag that has your number on it.
Kiss the wandering fool for me.
I am so happy for you. I only hope that sweet Nell comes home, too.
I'm just glad it's you and not me.
So glad to hear he's home! I haven't been on for a while, but I tagged you on my blog. Come by to see!
Our chocolate lab once jumped out of the back of my husband's truck without my husband knowing; he stayed gone for 5 long days. We never dreamed we'd see him again. Findly, a kind person called to tell us that he had a brown dog on his porch and he had heard we were missing ours. It was a happy surprise reunion since we never dreamed that after 5 days we'd get him back.
Glad your pup is home.
I am sooooooo glad your Preacher puppy was found safe and sound! I had to go get some kleenex while I was reading your post........
One Happy Dog and Family reunited.....what a happy ending!
