She's home!
Last night we had the amazing privilege of seeing the homecoming of our good friends and their new daughter, a little girl adopted from Ethiopia.
This is a very unique group of children. It includes two little girls that are awaiting the arrival of their newly adopted sister, two little girls that have been adopted and one little girl that is eagerly awaiting the adoption of her little sister. It was very sweet and touching to watch how excited they were.
I've watched this video about ten times and I get goose bumps and a nervous excitement every single time.
I have so much I want to say about last night, but I'm a bit overwhelmed. It was one of the most joyous occasions I've ever witnessed.

My family and I got off a plane at PDX (Portland International) years ago that had several Asian babies arriving to be given to their new families. They (the caregivers) took the babies off the plane last. As I remember, our plane was late too. We had three or four little kids so we got off the plane next-to-last and saw the families anxiously waiting at the end of the plane's off-ramp (in the days before all the security kept people away from the gates) with signs and cameras. I pulled my family aside in the waiting area to watch the union (it wasn't a "reunion"). It was so touching and emotional. I cried as did many others watching also. Their joy was so moving. It stayed with me for a long time.
(It brings tears to my eyes now!)

I haven't witnessed this in person, but I cry everytime I watch the video of Steven Curtis Chapman and his wife, Mary Beth, welcome their first baby from China. So, so touching.
I can't watch the video, I just know I'll cry. All my best to them.
What a wonderful video. I found myself straining to see, hoping to catch a glimpse of their sister!
We can't wait to hear the rest of this story! I hope there's more video, too! We have a couple in our church that got 2 little Asian girls and another couple that got a little Russian boy. They've been nothing but a blessing!
This was our girls Sept 27th of 2007 when me and dh were bringing home our son (not off a plane, just from another city). They were in their pajamas and absolutely giddy when we walked in the door. We all started bawling at the intensity of the occasion.
Thank you for sharing, it's a wonderful time to experience.
How exciting for these girls and how moving for the rest of us. It's hard not to tear up just watching them. We have been waiting almost 3 years for our niece to arrive from China. It's hard to watch these reunions, wondering if she is even born yet.

This truly reaffirms that family is so much more than biology. It all bound in love.
What an uplifting video with the girls so excited. How old is the child? A baby or older? If she's older there will be a bit of culture shock, which is to be expected. The children being adopted from Haiti by members of our church are older which is a different situation than bringing in a baby. It's a wonderful, wonderful thing that they've given this girl an opportunity to flourish and grow in a happy home.

I was blessed enough to welcome my second nephew home from Guatemala five years ago this month! One of the best memories I will ever have :)
