My Parents in a NUTSHELL!

Oh, no. What have I done?

I was trying to find a photo of me that would describe to you all how humbled I am that so many of you have wandered over here to say a few words to me. But, then.....well, I got sidetracked. Kinda like when you start cleaning out your storage room and you start finding all kinds of wonderful treasures that you forgot you had.

I found these two videos of Mom and Dad. They're reading my Christmas letter. Their reaction is a perfect, spot-on description of their personalities.

Guess who I take after?

Interesting! Reverse your mom and dad...and you have my parents. Mom is dry and really has no sense of humor. Dad is funny and gets the humor of movies like Airplane. Your mom's laugh is infectious! And now I want to be on your Christmas card list! LOL

April,
I've been lurking around for a week or so and enjoying you immensely (okay, not so much the pics of the chicken butt) but I love the videos of your parents. Mine are so similar to yours and I have to say that your mom's infectious laugh had me laughing right along with her!
Thanks for your sharing your quirky thoughts with us. You bring a smile to my face!

Your poor dad must feel so alone sometimes, LOL. Just watching your mom laugh made me laugh. A whole family full of funny women! Ellen looks like she probably inherited your sense of humor, too.

I laughed right along with your mom - her laugh is truly infectious! Then I wondered what the heck we're laughing at?!?! Can we read the letter, too, lol? I love your blog - found you thru your sister's whom I found thru PW. I check all of you each morning now to see what you're up to. Thanks for the smile and the great start to my day.

You don't EVEN know how bad I want to read that letter now! I also found your blog through your sisters who I found through Pioneer Woman. I don't have a blog yet, but maybe I need to try it. I just don't know if I could be funny everyday and funny blogs are the best blogs IMO....

The above Anonymous comment (retrohousewife) is my best friend and we both identify with your mom. We can't even talk on the phone sometimes for all the laughing. Your blog is so fun!

Okay, count me in. Found out about you (and your wacky sense of humor) thru Pioneer Woman and your sister... Hilarious stuff. Loved your mom's laughter. And I agree, wonder where your dad fits into all this laughter? I think however, he sees the humor, just doesn't need to laugh out loud... Poor him... :)

Okay...these are two of the top 10 funny videos I've stumbled upon! You're mother's laugh is infectious...and, your father's stoic manner is priceless!! My parents are the opposite. My mother would sit there reading it without an expression...and, my father would have been crying from laughing so hard.

LOVED, LOVED THE VIDEO!!!! I showed it to my Mom (soon to be 89 and we both agreed that your parents are exactly like mine except my Dad would of kind of chuckled quietly. Mom and I laugh like your Mom, also Fresh Fixins.

That was hilarious! It actually could be my husband and me. I could see the both of us. What the heck was in that letter????

This is so my husband and myself. I roll around laughing and he simply reads and sometimes smiles. I wanna read that letter.

This was too funny. And I have to agree with some of these ladies. It could totally be me and my husband. Me laughing hysterically and him reading with a quiet smile.

I'm a new reader, I found you last week and I love your sense of humor. Your dad is soooo like my dad was. I found you via your sister and found her via PW. Thanks for the daily smiles!

I blog hopped as well from PW's to your sister's to you, but to quite ring your own bell...you are one seriously funny chick and I just love stopping by to see how your're doing. You, your sister, PW and obviously your Mom all amke me feel like I am "okay" because I am a lot like ya'll. I inherently see things in a humerous way or atleast i try to...I am not easily angered and I know when I need quiet time. Like the Last Lecture stated, by Randy Pausch, "You can be a Tigger or an Eyeore"...I like to think of my self as Pooh channeling Tigger. I really love your writings and I want you to keep on going. ~Marlene~

You, your mom and your daughter were hysterical. I was laughing myself and I don't even know why! But it was your dad's reaction that really still has me laughing. The poor man, the way he kept turning the letter over, I just found it so funny. Don't tell him.

Hiya~
Like some others, I found you through PW and your sister. Thank you SOOO much for the good laughter--it hasn't been a great few weeks around here. But, at least none of my illicit chickens have pastey butt at the moment, and this video reminded me of the way I sound when my dear friend from 6th grade sends her Christmas letters each year. My husband is like your dad, with a few smiles and a few steps backward from the ensuing scene.
Really, thanks for sharing all the laughter and fun with the world. You are making smiles happen everywhere!!!

April, you have had me laughing hysterically for the past 3 nights now. You are a newly-discovered treasure...keep writing!

The videos of you and your husband doing that little dance literally had me on the floor laughing. I couldnt' even get through them without crying!
