Thigh Meat

I'm working on a post about our pigs. I want it to be thoughtful and respectful of those that are no longer among us..... our pigs.

So, while I'm trying to come up with just the right words to explain how pigs become pork, I want to invite you to view my talented friend's juicy photos of my meaty thighs. I mean how can you resist with that sort of introduction? Maybe I should say, sordid introduction.

So, I checked this link out. Great photos. But- Hey, April! You're a potter?? The photo that stood out to me was the bowl of eggs- bowl by April?? Cuz, I'm a potter too! Just came in from my studio, aamof! My pride and joy is my (long awaited aquisition of a) 16cf updraft propane kiln.
How about more pot pictures??

That first photo of you and Clay is my favorite. You look like two young lovers.

How did the pigs handle their fate? With pride and dignity I hope.

clayvessel,

I'm a very amateur potter. I have an older electric kiln that I inherited from Clay's grandmother, but I'm scared to use it. My dream is to turn part of the barn into a studio someday. I still need a lot of lessons, but I don't always have time to take them.....like right now I don't have the time.

Well- nice bowl, lovely rim, beautiful glaze.
I know about the time problems, cuz me too. I'm just back in my studio after many distractions all summer. I fired my electric kiln to cone 10 for twenty years until I finally got my gas kiln.
Keep dreaming, April, and it will happen someday! It's an addiction donchaknow.

Elaine,

I respect your decision to be a vegan. But, my family eats meat and we won't be changing that any time soon. Raising our own food, be it meat, fruits or vegetable is an important part of our lives. I think you'll find my post about our pigs very different from the link you left. If you go back and read some of my posts about Coal Creek Farm you will find we honestly love and care for all the animals that we own and I go beyond the normal to care for some of my chickens. I hope you'll come back and leave another comment after I put up my pigs to pork post.
