Wham Bam Decorating
I made this year's Thanksgiving feast for my family. I cooked, decorated and everything was almost ready when I remembered I forgot to put a center piece on the table. So, here's what I did.
Ta-da!
Last year I used coffee beans and forgot to blow out the candles after dinner. We all went outside to play and thank the Lord I needed to come in for some reason. I found my house smelled like Starbucks. I looked at the table and the glass hurricane I had used had exploded and the coffee beans were on fire. Needless to say I only have one glass hurricane now, but that's all I really need. Variations on the theme; fill with jelly beans, candy corn, Hershey Kisses, etc...the possibilities are endless!

I used to sell Partylite candles and using seasonal "whatevers" was a big decorating thing with them. I still do it. My favorites are those little conversation hearts at Valentine's Day. I put a 3 wick candle into a big bowl thingy I have and then fill in around it with the candy. For fall this year I used mini gourds and pumpkins around the candle. I don't have anything in it right now but I have been eying the Bob's Sweet Stripe candies. I think those might look good. THe problem is that my girls love them, so it will probably be a disapearing centerpiece.
Mmm, melty Hershey Kisses. Slurp, slurp.
Beautiful! I had some centerpiece drama. I had a bright idea and bought these foam/dish things from Wal-mart. I had a bunch of carnations and some fake fall leaves and decided to make the centerpieces for our tables myself (we had 14 people). I noticed when I tried to soak the foam that it just floated on the water. I thought maybe it would just take some time. I then cut all the flowers and stuck them into the foam. It was pretty ugly and not at all what I had pictured in my mind. I started to suspect that maybe there is different foam for fresh flowers and called my friend. I was not about to venture out in the snow to find the proper florist foam so I ended up filling bowls with rocks and water and put the flowers in those with some fake fall leaves sticking out. I didn't take pictures of them because I was ashamed. Hmmmm... I'm not quite on the blog game. It could've made a funny post.
It looks beautiful. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

I've done this with a trifle dish and a three-wick candle--and a lot more cranberries.
